Stephan J. Bamford, 48, of Andover, died Wednesday, May 19, 1993 at his home following a battle with cancer.

Mr. Bamford was the superintendent of several cemeteries for more than 15 years, including Spring Grove Cemetery where he was buried.

Mr. Bamford was born in Lawrence.  He graduated from Andover High School and the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea as a supply manager and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Members of his family include his father, H. Russell Bamford of Long Boat Key, FL; brothers Gilbert R. Bamford of Mission Viejo, CA, David J. Bamford of Long Boat Key, FL, and James Bamford of Andover; sisters, Marian Smith of Piedmont, CA, Edith Ann Welch of Boston, Roberta Banan of Long Boat Key, FL, Jacqueline Moran of Providence, RI and Susan M Sullivan of Andover, with whom he had lived; former wife Susana (Sullivan) Bamford of Ipswich; and many nieces and nephews.
