Taken from his obituary in the Lawrence Eagle Tribune:

John Patrick Winters, 47, 5 Stirling Street, Andover, died Thursday, July 25, 1991 at his home of cancer.

He was born in Lawrence and was a lifelong Andover resident.  He attended Andover schools and was a 1963 graduate of Andover High School.  He attended Wentworth Institute in Boston.

Mr. Winters served with the U.S. Marines during the 1960’s.

He owned and operated several service stations in Andover.  In 1973, he established Andover Small Engine.

He was a member of the Massachusetts Equipment Dealers Association.

His wife, Marsha J. (Cookson) Winters said he also enjoyed skiing.  For the past several years, he took ski trips to Aspen, CO.

Mrs. Winters said he also enjoyed riding all-terrain vehicles.

Besides his wife, family members include sons, John D. of Franklin, OH, and Patrick J., Michael A. and Brian P. of Andover; and sisters Beverley McAllister of Andover and Mary Ellen Ottoviani of Haverhill.

Ah, the "W" gang...John was part of our group who always had the back of the room covered--and we did alot that was not always what we were supposed to be doing...but being in the rear of the room and sitting alphabetically all the time we got to know each other fairly well.  Fond memories of John--and know that if Saint Peter has any problems with his Harley, John is the go-to guy up there!
